Dashboards

A dashboard is a grid of widgets showing a workspace's signals at a glance. A workspace can have several, such as a store overview, checkout health and returns, and everyone in the workspace sees the same ones.

Several dashboards

Click the dashboard's name at the top of the page to switch to another one. The same menu has New dashboard, Rename, Duplicate, Move up and Move down (the menu's order), Pin as landing dashboard and Delete. Switching keeps the date and tag filters.

  • The landing dashboard, starred in the menu, is the one Dashboard in the sidebar opens. Each dashboard also has its own address to bookmark or share.
  • Who can do what: workspace owners and editors create, edit, rename, duplicate and reorder dashboards. Owners (and organization admins) also choose the landing dashboard and delete dashboards. Viewers view them.
  • Deleting a dashboard deletes its widgets, not any signals or data. A workspace always keeps at least one dashboard; deleting the landing one makes the next in the menu the landing dashboard.

How many

Your plan sets how many dashboards each workspace can have; see Settings → Plan & Usage. If a workspace has more than its plan allows (after moving to a smaller plan), nothing is deleted: the landing dashboard and the next ones in the menu, up to the limit, stay editable, and the rest are read-only. Read-only dashboards can still be viewed, printed, pinned and deleted. Pinning one, or moving it up the menu, changes which ones stay editable.

Widgets

  • Scorecard: one number, such as today's gross revenue, with its change against the previous period. The change is green or red depending on whether a rise is good news for that signal.
  • Line chart and bar chart: a signal over time, optionally split by a tag (one line or bar per store, for example).
  • Pie chart: how a signal divides across a tag's values.
  • Label: a heading to group the widgets below it.

A widget usually shows one signal. A derived widget combines several, such as revenue divided by orders.

The date and tag filters

The date picker above the dashboard sets the day every widget is measured to; it starts on today, and a past day is kept in the page's address. Filter narrows every widget to specific tag values, such as one store. Filters with the same tag match either value; different tags must all match.

Live (while viewing today) keeps the dashboard refreshing on its own.

Analyze a change

Each single-signal widget has an Analyze button, and a scorecard's change is clickable too. Either opens Analysis: which tag values account for the change.

Editing the layout

Edit lets workspace owners and editors add widgets, change their settings, and drag or resize them on a 12-column grid. Save keeps the changes for everyone; leaving without saving discards them. Editing needs a screen at least 768 pixels wide. A dashboard holds up to 25 charts and numbers; section labels don't count toward that.

If someone else saves the same dashboard while you're editing it, your save is refused rather than undoing theirs. Reload to see their version, then make your changes again.

Copying a widget to another dashboard

While editing, a widget's menu has Copy to…, listing the workspace's other dashboards you can edit. The copy is added at the bottom of the one you pick, and saved there straight away. To move a widget, copy it, then delete it here and save.

Add to dashboard on a chat answer opens the landing dashboard with the widget filled in; its Dashboard field sends it to another one instead.

Printing

Print lays the dashboard out on paper as it appears on screen, in landscape and the light theme, with the date, filters and last refresh time at the top. It waits for charts to finish drawing first. A widget is never split across pages.

Starting a new page

To start a section on a new page, edit its label widget and turn on Start a new page here when printing.

Fullscreen

Show this dashboard fullscreen (beside Print) fills the screen with the dashboard alone, for a wall display or a presentation. The navigation and the date and filter controls are hidden; the dashboard's name, its date and any filters still show. Auto-refresh keeps running, so a display stays current. After a few seconds without mouse movement the cursor and the remaining controls fade. Press Esc, or the button again, to leave.

Fullscreen enlarges the whole dashboard evenly, text included, and centers it, so widgets keep the shape you gave them. Fit screen shows all of it at once; Fit width fills the screen's width and lets a tall dashboard scroll. The choice is remembered in your browser.

Outside fullscreen a dashboard sits at the left, under its title, and its widgets are the same size on any screen wide enough. Empty columns before the first widget or after the last don't take up room, so there's no need to leave columns empty to place a dashboard.

Emailing a dashboard

Email this dashboard (beside Print) sends it, as shown on screen with the same date and filters, to people in the workspace. Search for them by name or email, up to 10 at once, and add a subject and a short message if you like. Each person gets their own email, in the light theme, with a link to open the dashboard in Datius. Anyone who can view the dashboard can email it.

Email goes through your organization's own mail server, set up by an organization admin in Settings → Email (SMTP), and needs a plan that includes it. Until then the button says what's missing.
